For the Homebodies

G & I are known to be candle hoarders. Anytime that I am home for a couple of hours, I would have one burning in our bedroom or in the living area (where I am currently writing this post) There is just something calming, soothing & indulgent with having scented candles around, and, depending on the scent, is reminiscent of either a tropical beach house (coconut scents) to cuddly sweater weather (vanilla & wood based scents) I’d been wanting to try my hand at making my own for a while and decided to make an afternoon of it, using mismatched vintage teacups I picked up at the flea market. Not only do they look adorable, but they’d also make an ideal gift since after the candle’s been used up (with some soaking in some boiling soapy water), the recipient would have a cute set of vintage teacups. Aside from that, I’ve also started making them into cool apothecary jars which I am going to sell soon- for other homebodies just like me 🙂 Watch this space!

Homemade Scones

Home-made baked goods is always a good thing. I’ve been wanting to make my own scones for a while & when our good friends Mom gave us a jar of her homemade blackberry jam, it felt like my calling (lol) By following this easy recipe with ingredients which are staples in the average suburban home, I finally did it. There is a lot of room for improvement since I made such a mess (eg. the dough was way stickier than I thought, nor did I have a roller, a cutter or a K-hook mixer) but the overall result & taste of a fresh-off-the-oven scone was hard to beat. Cheers! x

SONY DSCAfter a week of wearing boring office work clothes, I welcomed the idea of cropped t-shirts & ripped shorts for the weekend. The last time I owned something tie dye, was when I decided to wear it to a friends “Bad Fashion Party”. Besides that, it’s the other white clothes that I accidentally washed with a coloured one (happens all the time!) So it isn’t much of a surprise that I soon threw them out. This one though gives such a cute 60s vibe with bubblegum colours that isn’t too ‘psychedelic’ & thankfully, it matches perfectly with the high-waisted Levi shorts I scored at the Sunday Market.

Restart

Happy Chinese New Year once again! 2014 was a wonderful, but trying year for me. I hate finding excuses, but so much of what I worked on or planned is unrealized because I was so focused on planning our wedding (like learning Italian, several upcoming projects & candle-making to name a few), which makes the anticipation for 2015 almost unbearable. The new year brings with it lots of promise, exciting new adventures (Spirit of Tasmania trip & our honeymoon to Italy!), and a few fun changes on the site (watch this space!) I can finally start tackling a few of these! Thank you so much for your continued support and have a wonderful new year & great weekend! x
