Happy New Year everyone! 2014 will be pretty hard to beat but let this year be a start of beginnings, new habits, new hobbies & passion- a restart 🙂 A look back into the past 12 months saw lots of heartbreak & grief, but also plenty to celebrate. Last year we have been riveted by world events like the disappearances of flights MH370, the fall of MH17 & most recently AirAsia QZ8501. We also saw the tragedy of Ebola outbreak, South Korean ferry disaster which killed hundreds of passengers- mostly high school students, the rise of ISIS, the siege at Lindt Cafe at Sydney Martin Place… I can’t imagine how all the families & friends of the victims will ever come to terms with such loss- presumably they never do. But through tragedy comes strength & resilience and yes, 2014 have plenty to be proud of too. In August, we saw train commuters assist a fellow passenger when his leg was stuck between the train & platform, by rallying strength to push the train to free his limb. A China millionaire funded the building of luxury apartments & villas for residents of the village where he grew up in, for free. Remember Malala Yousafzai? Well she became the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner. 2014 has been one in which hashtag activism took the
internet world by storm such as #alsbucketchallenge, #illridewithyou, #bringbackourgirls…are one of many! Britain’s sweetheart & Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton announced her 2nd pregancy & last, New Zealand is the 13th country to legalize gay marriage and the first nation in the Asia-Pacific region.
So what has this past year have taught me? Remembering to always appreciate your loved ones no matter how bad things can be. Hope you all had partied safe! Let the new year begin!
