The New Era of Bloggers

Hi Friends,

I haven’t blogged in a couple of days, and no…it is not because I am bored of blogging, but just busy with uni assignments.Dreadful to the bone!! 😦

Plus I am running out of pictures to fill my blogs, so this post will contain mainly photos from the net.

You know… some people laughed when I told them I am addicted to blogging, but when I read Marie Claire April 2010 edition, they did a whole story about bloggers as being the frontline of fashion now and that
bloggers were the “new black”. So…Take that you “too cool for school” peoples! 🙂

I believe this is true, I mean nowadays, almost everyone is on Facebook, and most news travel from FB statuses etc. There is an increase of advertisement through Facebook & many up & coming small business promote themselves there-no wait, even the politicians! Blogging is just the same.

What’s so bad about blogging anyhow? According to Wikipedia (well, they are not a very reliable source, but I like how this sound ok), blogs are defined as:

Personal blogs
The personal blog, an ongoing diary or commentary by an individual, is the traditional, most common blog. Personal bloggers usually take pride in their blog posts, even if their blog is never read. Blogs often become more than a way to just communicate; they become a way to reflect on life, or works of art. Blogging can have a sentimental quality. Few personal blogs rise to fame and the mainstream, but some personal blogs quickly garner an extensive following. One type of personal blog, referred to as a microblog, is extremely detailed and seeks to capture a moment in time. Some sites, such as Twitter, allow bloggers to share thoughts and feelings instantaneously with friends and family, and are much faster than emailing or writing.”

And believe it or not,  I have made this blog partly also to update my sisters who can update my worried mother all the way in Jakarta, about all the bad things I’m up to- jokes! On a serious note, these blogs can come in handy you know! Think, a Happy Birthday page dedicated to a friend, or helping to promote a friend’s label or cause etc…

Speaking of bloggers, I want to show you guys some of the really influential bloggers out there…my favorites have got to be…

BryanBoy

BryanBoy is from the phillipines & started blogging at 17. Soon, his infectous blog attracted as much as 5000+ views a day. Bryanboy fans often send in photos of themselves in his signature pose—standing with hips thrust to one side and a handbag in an outstretched arm—or with handwritten signs declaring “I ❤ Bryanboy” and celebrity followers include Marc Jacobs who named a bag after BryanBoy known as the “BB Ostrich Bag”

Marc Jacobs ❤ BryanBoy

Hes got killer style, attitude and he is funny!! His blogs are real interesting & “cray cray cray!!” You can check it out at:

Tavi

Tavi is an American fashion blogger who began her blog, “Style Rookie” in 2008 as a 11-year-old. Initially, her parents did not completely know what Tavi was doing until she asked for their permission to appear in an issue of New York Times  magazine story. Since then, she has had as many as 50,000 readers and you bet one of them is me! She has been invited & attended many top fashion shows- of which we can only dream of and watch from Fashion TV, and Rodarte have made a collection inspired by Tavi! She has also met Karl Lagerfeld & many more… She even made her own Tavi T-Shirt which she collaborated with Borders & Frontiers.

She has put my puny little blog to shame, and her words make me feel I failed English in High School. Even her grammar is impeccable!

The “Un-Cool” Tavi Wannabe heheh! 🙂

 Scott Schuman, a.k.a The Sartorialist

He specializes in taking pictures of people who had dressed in some way that caught his eye, and then posting them to his blog, sometimes with comments about what he finds. He has pioneered fashion photography in blog form. Hmm…good looking photographer at that too! 🙂

Check him out at:

It is amazing to know that these people can find success in the things they love to do starting from just a blog- and create a trend at that! 🙂 Speaking of which….

K.O CREW LOVE!!

I would like to wish my dear friend all the way from High School days, Alan and the K.O Crew congrats & good luck for your competitions in the future.

Alan Breakdancing

K.O Crew started in 2003 Melbourne, from a small group of guys who love to break-dance. As a witness in High School, Alan (a.k.a Tofu) & Andrew (Reflex) would breakdance everywhere! In class, during lunch, in the library etc etc.. From a favourite past-time, K.O Crew have since joined major breaking competitions & won some major love!! They have won:

The group have expanded to 17 & have members internationally as well ranging from Melbourne, HK, New Caledonia, France & Japan!

If you want to catch them performing, be sure to go to Swanston St, corner of Lil Collins St, every Saturday 4pm till 8pm
where they will be jamming on the Chessboard in front of Lincontrol Cafe 🙂
